The Ballad of Sgt. Hack music video started production on March 9-11 2012.  A music video was shot by singer/songwriter Erica Lane and producer-director Kenny & Kyle Saylors. The shoot took place in various locations around Hudson OH using many local residents as cast and crew members. The Ballad of Sgt. Hack was based upon the book, “The Life of a Warrior”.  It tells the story of Sgt. Hack growing up in Kentucky and his military service.  Sgt. Hack met the Saylors Brothers several years ago and discussed the possibility of making a movie based upon “The Life of a Warrior”.  Most recently, Erica Lane, Kyle Saylors wife wrote The Ballad of Sgt. Hack and the idea to create a music video was born.  Starting on Saturday morning on a freezing sunny day production began going until dark Sunday evening.

Little boy, your father doesn’t love you anymore
The other children tease you ’cause you’re dirty and you’re poor

The Hackmobile  was one of Sgt. Hack’s most essential (if unorthodox) tools during his days as the nation’s #1 US Army recruiter* in the early 1970s.  Determined to be the #1 Recruiter in the nation, Sgt Hack began with a custom painted 1960 Corvette and then added the Hackmobile which began its life as a military jeep attached to the 101st Airborne at Ft. Campbell Kentucky.  Sgt. Hack was the Recruiter of Choice for the 101st Airborne and painted the Hackmobile to represent the 101st.

*Before retiring, Sgt. Hack was an Army recruiter in Ohio and won the title of the nation’s #1 recruiter from 1969-1973, using a customized Army jeep and a custom-painted Corvette as recruiting tools. Sgt. Hack’s jeep is one of only two jeeps to ever be displayed in a US Military Museum, the other belonging to Gen. George S. Patton (whose jeep is displayed at Fort Knox, KY). Since being acquired by the museum, Sarge’s jeep has only been driven once… by Gen. William Westmoreland, who drove it in a parade.
